The classic crime novel assumes evil as a necessary scenario in its development, as a part of society to reflect in order to achieve its end, to show the vileness of the world in its most drastic form, homicide.

Few authors consider the underlying moral dilemma in almost every crime novel. What part of the fault do we all have for living, and part of having built, such a society?

When this book The god of our century It begins with a kind of intimate description of what it means for Daniella Mendes to go out on the streets in search of clues to a new case. At that moment you can already understand that this novel, although black, is not going to tiptoe over evil, it is not going to participate in the assumption of amorality as a necessary balance without more. No, the indifference in favor of the plot is not the keynote of this work.

Sometimes acid humor becomes a useful tool to move. How could Daniella face new days without that hint of tragic humor? But always with that intention of delving into the reasons for the macabre, for the finalist violence, so that the night continues to be the kingdom of evil.

Three children have disappeared in a large American city, the one labeled the Mulkern case by the last name of the first of the missing. Three little ones who are around 10 years old and in which Daniella can guess to her future child that he will arrive in six months, more or less.

Everything that happens around the three boys, in a city bordering the desert, with a fantastic setting saturated by a heat wave and an atmosphere full of fear and hopelessness will be what moves the plot of this wonderful novel.

What Daniella is discovering shakes the conscience of the reader, a wide connoisseur of that strange space, that no man's land between evil and morality, between darkness and day, the space where we can all travel from time to time and that we would all deny having traveled. It is not about offering morals, rather it is a story to acknowledge our defeats, before ourselves and before our little ones.

A great crime novel with a genuine touch by this young author.
