He was about to get it. Sue grafton he set himself the challenge of concluding an alphabet of crime. And he only had the Z to get it.

For more than 30 years this author remained faithful to her commitment until reaching this penultimate theoretical installment, although we have no choice but to assume that it is the final work. It's a pity that Sue didn't have time to build that final novel in which each character made a exit from the forum, or in which, probably, we would have found winks and cameos from other characters ...

However, Y de Yesterday is a wonderful novel to close this alphabet of the most wicked of the human being.

All part of the year 1979 in the city of Santa Teresa. Some crazy young men end up becoming another girl's makeshift killers. Two of the three culprits end up being sentenced although, given their minority, they regain their freedom after 10 blurry years have passed.

It is then when the everlasting Kinsey Millhone appears on the scene, hired by the family of Fritz McCabe, the boy who has just been released. Because as soon as he steps on the street, the still young Fritz begins to be harassed by someone determined to disrupt any new plan of life.

Between the possible relatives of the victim and an old friend of the gang who ended up fleeing when the young woman died, a suffocating reality hangs over Fritz. Because in addition new pending accounts surface in the form of secrets and blackmail. Fritz's parents want to protect him from any minor harm, hoping that the ten lost years can turn into a hopeful future.

The novel is completed by a parallel branch that intertwines with the main trunk like a tenacious vine. And it is that there are many cases that Kinsey Millhone carries behind his back, too many debts with the worst people who stood out in previous installments.

To the point that Fritz's past and Kinsey's share a background music of their lives that ends up awakening threatening echoes of yesterday.
