Nazi Hunters, by Andrew Nagorski

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this book was the movie Inglourious Basterds, with Brad Pitt as an instructor for a commando that was dedicated to persecuting Nazis (the direction by Tarantino complements the fiction with a good dose of gratuitous violence, in this case well paid for seeing so many Nazis summarily executed).

But this story is not going there. What he book Nazi hunters tells us is a true story, a narrative of the hidden search of the Nazi leaders who could not be prosecuted in Nuremberg. That they could not be prosecuted or rather that they lost the interest of international justice, completely dispersed in the cold war.

I also remembered me book The arms of my cross. Where I raised a possible apocryphal biography of a Hitler fled in Argentina. A unique story that I cannot stop recommending you. The escape of this genocide was something that Stalin himself anticipated as soon as the Second World War ended ... And abounding on the subject, if you want, you can take a look at this very interesting video.

But going back to this book that concerns us today, it is fascinating to discover how some went about searching for Nazis all over the world. With the official channels buried, independent investigators busied themselves with seeking justice for the murderous supporters of the Third Reich.

The review of the Nuremberg trials, whose processes served to find threads to pull in the new searches, confront us with that singular historical moment, the days in which the evil passed a judicial view. Beyond the criminal articles and codes, regardless of the facts, penalties and convictions, to revisit these processes is to face a final judgment on good and evil. The human being turned into a monster and reason, supported by legality, trying to pass sentences where the most intense emotions overcame everything.
