It all depends on the concerns of each one.

The wealth of knowledge and education blesses all those who discover that need to know where they are and what surrounds them beyond their closest habitat, although they always start from the subjective partiality of human nature, which deals with to approach the confines of the world as far as the senses and reason can reach.

But ostracism is much worse, no doubt. Staying in the same place and under the same single prism leads to alienation. This always difficult rupture is about this book by Tara Westover, determined to novel her particular biography in one of those books that end up becoming controversial manuals towards the liberation of so many and so many spheres in which even today the closure continues to be the Unique reference standard.

Nothing better or worse than a father to exercise that indoctrination towards the upbringing of the person in the image and likeness of oneself. Nothing to do with the perspective of Cavafis's poem: «Your offspring they are not your offspring neighborhoods, are the offspring and daughters of the Life eager for herself»Which should rule as the horizon of all educational process, underpinning that necessary will of the individual for the exercise of their freedom.

The point is that Tara's father is that example of authoritarian fatherhood forged in Mormon laws. The Idaho open space is paradoxically a jail for Tara. Among the deep valleys there was only Tara, her father and God (if there was a difference between the latter two).

Tara has no choice but to rebel. And it is through Tara that we discover the creative being as the first individual interested in breaking the mold, out of imperative need of the soul. With her indomitable will, Tara sets out to discover a world as a newcomer from another planet. The lagoon of years of submission make her a stranger in her own world when, at sixteen, she begins to outline her destiny, oblivious to the paths marked by the patriarchy to which she has been subjected. And it is there where the value of an informative, reflective, critical and empowering education of the individual, acquires the brilliance of one of the most important conquests in our History.

On the border of fear of the unknown and hope to find a place for her talents and passions, Tara's journey becomes a wonderful visa towards freedom.
