Not so long ago I spoke of the interesting book by the economist Leopoldo Abadía: Grandparents on the verge of a grandchildren attack. A book that keeps with this the analogy of his final motivation, which is none other than explaining what it means to be a grandparent today.

Humor is a good starting point and common note in these two books. But Charo Izquierdo has opted for complete fiction in his book Help, I'm a grandmother.

Because the good fortune of babies is currently associated with the role of grandparents who, more than lending a hand, have to finally pitch in as if they were second parents or, worse still, paid caregivers ..., without pay, of course .

To all this must be added the double responsibility that caring for grandchildren can represent for a grandmother. The child must be fine, logically for herself, but also so that the daughter does not get angry if the girl catches a cold or if she takes a hit.

In the case of the protagonist of this novel, the dilemma increases. Young grandmother, still with work and eager to continue enjoying the conquest of her free time. Without a doubt, the love of a grandmother is practically comparable to that of a mother, but when your time of raising children is over, in principle the official notification of the next arrival of the baby can break your schemes.

A funny novel about first-time grandmothers but with a very fresh perspective. We meet a grandmother who is still young, a woman without a permanent partner and with a great desire to enjoy an autonomy conquered after years and years jumping from one responsibility to another.

A humorous fit between that happy grandmother with her current life and the new role that she is going to have to assume.
