Rotos by Don Winslow

A book of the prolific Don winslow which is a sample book of the black genre in its most disparate representations. An aftertaste of crude realism that in this compilation assails us from the closest everyday to the most unlikely scenario.

The question is to end up invading us in assault from all flanks to feel that final fracture. A vision of the world around characters broken by circumstances, by that evil fate that awaits without remission or that is worked with perverse and painstaking zeal.

"Broken":

Eva McNabb, a police telephone operator, receives a call about a brutal murder perpetrated by drug traffickers. The victim is his son. Eva will then call her eldest son, who is also a policeman: «I want you to avenge your brother. And kill them all.

"Code 101":

A chain of robberies is ravaging the Pacific coast and has been unsolved for years, the thief always acts with a strict code "Code 101". The police attribute their robberies to Colombian drug cartels, but Detective Lou senses that they are crimes committed by a single person.

"The San Diego Zoo":

Agent Chris has to investigate a chimpanzee that has fled armed with a revolver. Winslow pays tribute to Elmore Leonard with this story where Chris has to solve the mystery and redeem his reputation.

"Sunset":

Surfer Maddux skips his bail for drug possession. Bounty hunter Duke decides that catching one surfer requires another. Detective Daniels will have to find his hero before it's too late.

"Paradise":

While on vacation, Ben, Chon and O, cannabis entrepreneurs, decide it's time to expand to the islands. This will lift the animosity of the local crime syndicate and turn paradise into a veritable battlefield.

"The last race":

For veteran border patrol agent Cal Strinckland, the illegals jumping the border are just a collection of nameless people to be sent back to the other side of the border. Until he sees the little girl in the cage. At that moment Cal knows he has to step forward and help her escape.

Each of these stories is undoubtedly Winslow in its purest form.
