Since Ricardo Cupido was born as a character in the early 90s, his journey through criminal misdeeds has made our hero one of the essentials in the most traditional Iberian police profession. The Spanish black genderLike Italian or also French, it is flavored by a southern touch.

Because the murders here are carried out with their emotional component or due to personal or business betrayals. There is no treachery or fascination with death like the most renowned psychopaths in other latitudes further north. But sometimes one comes across those perfect crimes that stand out most among the bungling tendency when there is no particular treachery. Not leaving blemishes and aiming for more natural deaths is an art that deserves from guys like Cupid. Someone capable of the most unexpected investigation but also gifted with the most sophisticated instinct for white collar criminals.

Santiago, doctor in charge of the emergency service at Gregorio Marañón, is enjoying a well-deserved vacation after the stress of the first wave of the Covid pandemic. He travels with his wife and son to Breda, a small town where he first practiced medicine twenty years ago, and had just graduated.

When a few days later he appears dead, his widow hires Ricardo Cupido, the detective who is already an old acquaintance of the readers of Eugene Fuentes, to help you clarify the case. Cupid, who failed to solve the last case commissioned (the traffic accident in which a seven-month-pregnant woman died on the Breda road), is deeply involved in this new one, in which he will have to investigate whether the reasons of this murder are in the present or in the past that returns.
