Neither comics nor comics… Manga books

The manga has the virtue of spreading across all kinds of genres, becoming a perfect claim for any type of reader. His conquest from Japanese lands to the Western world does not seem to have an end. From the youngest to those of us who are getting on in years, we can enjoy all kinds of stories with that hyperbolic Japanese look (to call it in some way), capable of mimicking children's fiction or even vignettes with an undeniable satin noir point with the brilliance of an overflowing fantasy.

We can currently find sleeves for sale in almost all physical or online bookstores. And as I say, it is a gigantic industry that today reaches the level of the most emblematic illustrations at the service of cartoons. What used to be dominated by comics now shares shelves with manga books in equal conditions. Neither better nor worse, it is simply a taste for cartoon stories with their particular perspective and the pampering of a centuries-old tradition that has evolved until today.

The undoubted exotic point of this type of comic is largely to blame for a worldwide success that took off back in the eighties. Manga books seem to never go out of style but on the contrary, manga is consequently more and more readers.

As I say, its always innovative exotic focus helps a lot. That contribution that starts from a taste for the distant. Something that ranges from the characterization of characters to the format that in the most purist cases maintains its reading order from right to left. It is not that the format is of greater importance, but the best manga creators do not usually look favorably on the mirroring of their comics. This demonstrates the appreciation of his work as something fully artistic.

In the development of the manga, an almost naive point is observed on many occasions. Good almost always wins over evil, perhaps as an extension of a Japanese culture with values such as respect always on the rise. A culture away from more cynical and disenchanted visions. And you want this not to get a framework always far from more worn-out imaginaries. Good stories have to have their implied or expressed moral. And so one finds entertainment in manga with often comforting endings for their well-deserved heroes as well as satisfying rewards of any kind after the effort. That does not mean that we do not find a bit of everything from humor, ridicule and satire to the most open criticism if it touches, of course.

The point is that in manga books we find fantasy in abundance (always in the aesthetic, often in the innermost part of their plots) that ranges from the epic to the even erotic. Illustrations with an aesthetic sophistication that awaken the imagination... Readings that fascinate children and adults in their respective classifications, Kodomo version for children, for example, or Shojo or Shonen for young people, Josei, Seinen for adults and adult hentai, in addition to many other unclassifiable ramifications that can appear in small fanzines or in periodic publications for true collectors.

A whole parallel universe immortalized in vignettes that explode like sequences of wonderful details. An imagery made in Japan that does not park any theme. The manga is here to stay and its most staunch or occasional readers are already legion.
