The 3 best books by James Patterson

James B Patterson He is an inexhaustible writer. A good example of this are his dozens and dozens of novels focused on one of his most emblematic characters: Alex Cross. I suppose that when you build a character like the well-known agent Cross, you will end up becoming fond of him, even more so if his adventures bring enormous profits and stratospheric sales.

This is not a criticism of the author at all. If something works, why change? And if good old James still has the courage to relate adventures around Alex Cross, then perfect.

But it is no less true that the stain of authenticity spreads around his creative capacity. There are those who assure that a team of "blacks" take care of rounding out their narrative proposals, in whatever way.

Beyond the controversy, when his novels continue to be read and climbed to the top of the ranking, it will be for a reason. When someone does it well, it often happens that detractors are born everywhere. In the case of James, with his advertising background, perhaps he has known how to adjust his work to the market ... Be that as it may, he has won.

Having said all this, which is no small thing, here I go with my particular ranking of literary recommendations on James Patterson.

Three Recommended Novels by James Patterson

The crimes of the highway

The best, if it is shared, even better. Without a doubt this novel brings out the best in Patterson, particularly in tune with a darker author like JD Barker. Because it is usual for literary tandems to be made up of authors in sync with the plot, it was a clear staging of the genre that touches on whether it is mystery, detective or even romantic. It is already more atypical that two writers as different as J. D. Barker y James Patterson join forces on a novel.

First of all because of the egos. It seems strange to me that Patterson does not see in Barker the upstart, the apprentice of the trade while Barker can see Patterson as the dinosaur of the previous generation of literature.

But if you look at the matter with perspective, you have to consider that both writers were already making the strange the norm. Patterson already wrote a half book with former President Clinton, while JD Barker has been in charge of narrating the now usual prequel on the classic of horror classics, none other than Dracula.

So everything makes more sense in that shared daring. All that remains is to wait for the mixture of terror, suspense, mystery and a pinch of black genre for full general enjoyment ...

One night, Michael Fitzgerald discovers a dead young woman in her bathtub when he returns from the supermarket. Next to the corpse is a sparrow feather. Terrified, he calls the police, who question him about the victim, Alyssa Tepper, whom he claims he does not know.

Detective Dobbs and Agent Gimble, of the FBI, join forces in what seems like a simple murder: when photos come to light in which Michael appears kissing Alyssa, he is immediately arrested, but a few hours later another victim appears with the same pattern: a sparrow feather placed next to the body. When more appear, not only in Los Angeles, but throughout the country, it is clear to them that they face a new serial killer, which they nickname Birdman.

The crimes of the highway

The lover collector

Many of us end up watching the movie and, like so many other times, the novel is better. An electrifying thriller that catches you with that sinister confusing perspective between white slavery and serial murders.

The title given in Spanish provides a point of much greater intensity. Intelligent and socially recognized women captured as trophies for God knows what end.

Summary: A young girl appears running through the forest, pursued by a murderer. He does not know where he is or where he is running, but he knows that he must flee and he is running for his life. Eight women have been kidnapped by this collector who, when he stops loving them, kills them.

Alex Cross on this occasion, not only will he try to catch someone he does not know almost everything about, but his own family is involved in the case: this time he also fights against the clock to save his own niece and his only hope is the only woman who managed to escape him.

Cross

Probably the most notable book in the series on Alex Cross. The story of the personal overlapping the professional is a resource widely used in police matters. In this case that personal aspect ends up splashing the principles and performance of the good of Cross.

Summary: Alex Cross was already emerging in the Washington Police Department when an alleged stray bullet ended the life of his wife, Maria. Although the body was asking for revenge, caring for her children turned out to be a reality that could not be postponed.

Now, ten years later, he has retired from the FBI and his family life seems in order. It is then that an old colleague asks him for help with a case that seems to be connected to Maria's death.

After all, it looks like Alex will have a chance to capture his wife's killer. Can he finally close that painful episode or is this just the culmination of his own obsession?

Other recommended books by James Patterson…

Persecuted

Versions of The Coup, in which the thieves plan a robbery with which to buy their most luxurious freedom, there are many types and authors. It is a way to culminate a remote dream of every neighbor's child, to raise a few million to the brutal capitalist system to laugh out loud from a paradisiacal beach. Of course, it was up to James Patterson to do his own review of this kind of cop-action subgenre.

Summary: From the morning, Ned had it all: the woman of his dreams in the bed of a luxurious suite, and the plan for a perfect robbery that would allow him to stop being a poor lifeguard tired of envying the rich of Palm Beach.

In the afternoon, he had nothing. The girl, brutally murdered. The coup, a total failure. His companions and friends, dead. And all the police in the country following in his footsteps for a few crimes he has not committed. Only a young FBI agent seems to believe in her innocence, but she faces very powerful people who are willing to make Ned the perfect scapegoat.

To prove their innocence, they must discover what really happened during the failed robbery, and where the valuable works of art that disappeared have gone. James Patterson proves once again why he is one of America's leading thriller authors, in a novel full of intrigue, action, and fast paced.
