It is always interesting to approach distant thoughts to get out of the ethnocentrism of the West. Approach a Kenyan writer and essayist as the present supposes an act of contrition on the political, social and economic sins that Europe and America have pending with respect to Africa. Ngugi wa Thiong'o's voice filters with crystal clarity amid the noise that distorts consciences and wills.

It is curious how we repudiate the abuses of the past. The brutal colonialism that annihilated people and plundered goods of all kinds in exchange for nothing. However, we are unable to see, or surely we do not want to assume, that the current colonizing system that is disguised around the market, the multinationals and a sad information veil that only shows from time to time the effects of abandonment and the sibylline control exercised .

So this book Strengthening the Foundations is an essay on what it shouldn't be. Sponsored dictatorships, contempt and abandonment, and industrial and economic benefits for the first world. Total cynicism that does not kill directly but favors genocide in an indirect and cruel way.

In spite of everything, we do not find revenge in this book but ideas towards peace, towards equality. We find ideas from other African thinkers that the author presents us and we know realities buried by capitalism. The world, our world, is indebted to Africa. Our prosperity rests on their exploitation. Later come the blind ideas of borders and walls ...

Freedom is an unattainable entelechy for an entire continent, and its various peoples, doubly oppressed by its leaders and by those who command them on the other side of the rope. Undoubtedly an enlightening narrative proposal that can raise consciences, and blisters ...
