Unconsciousness is a common point for every child, adolescent… and most adults.

At book My true story, Juan José Millás lets a twelve-year-old adolescent tell us the details of his life, with a deep secret that can only carry the story of an unbearable existential weight for a child.

But if someone can truly bear a reality sustained in a gigantic tragedy, that is a child who still wanders in the middle of the transition between fantasy and a reality not yet made luck or misfortune.

When the protagonist throws an innocent marble from a bridge, he knows remotely that something could happen, something bad. But evil and good do not acquire their full definition until the moment in which morality is fully installed in the internal forum of each one, with its contradictions and arbitrary adjustments ... Until that moment, throwing a marble is a mere act of vital empiricism.

Somehow, the fatal event reminded me of the novel Sleepersby Lorenzo Carcaterra. Children who act just because, without imagining the consequences ...

The marble ends up causing a fatal accident where an entire family dies. Irene, another girl, is the only one who survives, although with serious physical consequences.

Irene ends up becoming the vital foundation of the protagonist, whose parallel reality disturbs in parallel with the disaster that he caused and that he intends to keep as a secret for life.

This novel is the confession that any child could make of a secret that he tries to keep because he belongs to the most atrocious sphere of evil. To be sure, the magnitude of his guilt rises to a hardly coincident level. The essence is the same only that the example is a comparison to older people, to present us more clearly and clearly the secrets that we all bury until we reach adulthood.

In the end, as a reader you understand what secret aspects we all harbor and what a large part of the internalized guilt has that period that perhaps we never completely abandon: childhood.
