On-demand television is a very recent form of entertainment that has nothing to do with television as we understood it a little over twenty years ago. Until this emergence of television as a personalized service, the Spaniards of yesteryear looked at the two available public channels, and a more private one that was appearing, as an act of family reunion.

The television of that time collected the cultural heritage of Spain that was incorporated into the modernity of the televisions that were arriving at each house. In its beginnings, as indicated in this book of María Casado, just over fifty devices reproduced those first moving images that were introduced room by room over the years.

To think that shortly after millions and millions of Spaniards sat down to see "what they put in" is a fascinating idea. Television was going to be able to with everything reaching everyone. A tool for leisure or propaganda, for information and also for disinformation. A powerful weapon to explode ...

But in its unstoppable evolution, television houses a multitude of anecdotes that the journalist María Casado recovers for the cause of this TV stories book. Characters in singular, comic, committed, improvised, magical situations after all.

Programs burned into our memory, Christmas specials, musicals, sports ... all of them keep little secrets that will leave us speechless and make us smile.

Over the years, television was freeing itself from a certain naivety, gaining improvisation and naturalness if appropriate, getting better content and diversifying the offer to the unimaginable.

It is always good to look back a bit and discover everything we experienced in front of television, even what we never saw live ...
