In the case of any other author, Inspector Mascarell would become the transcendental character of the vital work. But speaking of Jordi Sierra and Fabra it would be risky to confine it to a single character in the face of the hundreds of published books.
What there is no doubt is that with this novel the 9 titles of the Mascarell series have already been reached and the character in question has a certain pre-eminence in the whole of the work.

As for the narrative proposal itself of this new installment that maintains its unique denomination of a group of days of different months (perhaps it will reach 12 installments then ...) we find a Miquel Mascarell full of wounds from his previous installments but with the same firm determination of his ideals and his social commitment.

By dint of having told us about his adventures as Inspector from the Civil War until this June 1951, at the same time that we have delved into the most personal aspects of Miquel, a post-war Barcelona citizen, each of the new adventures, which transcend from the police suspense or black to the emotional aspect of the personal plot, they lead us through a dizzying reading.

Having held a police position for so long has Miquel now, in June 1951, in the middle of a hurricane of old debts that can be paid with impunity with blood in times of the Franco regime.

A sinister debt creditor is Laureano Andrada, whom Miquel Mascarell took to jail. A guy capable of abusing minors and who is determined to end Mascarell now.

After the reunion with the wicked character, Miquel discovers how a conspiracy hangs over him that accuses him of murder.

Separated from his family, hidden and without any hope of being able to redirect the situation, Miquel must entrust dangerous new friends such as David Fortuny, an antagonistic character with whom he must collaborate to clear his name and recover his life before it is delivered to the summary cause of the most finalist justice.

In the same way that Arturo Pérez Reverte seems to have focused on another new postwar series, the Falcó series, Jordi Sierra i Fabra evokes the long Spanish dictatorship. A perfect setting to novel a black reality that surpassed even any literary genre that plunges into the dark to find sinister stories with which to surprise readers.
