I must admit that I was not a follower of the series: I know who you are. However, it was my understanding that this reading could be independent of the series.

And I think they are right. The presentation of characters is complete, without implications that can mislead readers new to the story. As I have seen later, this novel happens to be a second season of the series. And to achieve a complete and independent plot scenario, the plot is located two years after the first installment. Undoubtedly a success to attract both lovers of the series and new readers.

To present this story, I recover a term that I coined in the case of Pablo Rivero's debut: domestic thriller. Being very distant works, both present the family nucleus as a mysterious and threatening space, where all the characters show internal and external dangers, when they do not provoke them.

Death materializes as a total rupture of the family and awakens doubts, spread over all the characters. Internal quarrels and external hatreds turned into obscure motives for murder.

The character of Juan Elías stands out as a shadow that protects the family but holds great secrets ...

Under that elongated shadow we are presented with a cosmos of characters moved by love or veiled interests, in that play of light and shadow that always accompany humans and their contradictions.

Everything is oriented towards the discovery of the murderer, but the motives and the play of wills that caused the fatal outcome end up being an irresistible literary hook.
