Through the skin our most certain osmosis with the world is materialized. Everything else is a sum of subjective impressions of the senses that believe to command and rule over our lives.

But in the end everything is sensations of heat or cold, tremulous shudder or rigidity as a defense mechanism. Something like that seems to present Sergio del Molino in this essential metaphor of his new book about what equates us from the outside as a portal to the inside: our skin.

There are strange days, like Kafkaesque metamorphosis that would start, of course, from the skin abandoned on the road. To become in an instant little more than a dirty dusty hide.

And yet that common skin of any of us does not always have the fortune of looking like a shiny dermis to be explored by touch. And whoever suffers from bad skin plunges into the neuroses of the bosses of the good skin as today an unequivocal image of the purity of the soul by work and grace of the dictates of the day.

The monsters exist and they walk among us, perhaps we are ourselves. This is the starting point of Sergio del Molino's new work, a journey that this time teaches us to look at the most common and at the same time the most individual territory: human skin.

A severe psoriasis, which fills the body with scabs and makes it impossible to show nudity, helps the narrator to analyze the lives of various well-known characters who have suffered the consequences of bad skin.

The shame of feeling observed and the need to hide, the culture of the image and hypermedicalization, racism and classism are stops on this journey because of the secrets that we cover with clothes and that make our skin a border with the world .
