The release of John Grisham's new novel: The Bribe is scheduled for the end of the year. Undoubtedly the publishing market knows that this author is the ideal reference for a Christmas gift for every parent who likes to read.

When The Bribe passes through my hands, I will give a good account of it.

However, it is singular what the Plaza & Janés publishing house is going to do to further arouse the bug about the latest of this American author. The output of this prequel The Last Witness, a short story that serves as a preamble, and only in ebook format, I think I had never seen it.

I do not know to what extent the plot will be that announced prequel, but what is clear is that the story itself has its own entity. Come on, a story with a beginning, development and end that becomes a pleasant read for the staunch followers of the king of "judicial literature."

A murder case becomes the background of this little plot. The doubts about the guilt of the accused, the presentation of the characters, judge, lawyer and prosecutor as three very marked and absolutely disparate personalities anticipate an unpredictable resolution.

It often happens that a weak person (the judicial weakness is not having resources) can become the ideal scapegoat to which a dead person is charged. The magic of this story will be to move towards that real guilt that we are intuiting with that interesting perspective of the omniscient reader, placed above all the characters and who would like to intervene on the scenes to be able to clarify the facts.

Grisham is capable of posing extraordinary twists even in a story. The reader ends up doubting everything and everyone. And the end ends up reconciling us once again with our passion for reading this type of mystery books between robes.

You can now buy, for less than 1 euro, this suggestive prequel The last witness From John Grisham's new novel: Bribery:
