For the writer Jim lynch, The answer is in the wind. When the time comes to ask the question, when the existence of all the members of the Johannssen family drifts onto an unforeseen voyage, a regatta in the waters of Seattle is presented to them as the answer to all their lives, in the particular and the general. Regarding their particular destinies and that unpredictable destiny of the family nucleus.

They had so much in common ... Both the three Johannssen brothers, as well as their parents and grandparents, had a true devotion to the sea and the wind, to the sails of ships that use this basic motive force to advance in any sea or ocean.

And yet, having so much in common, life has pushed them away, physically and emotionally. Sailing as an accurate metaphor for the winds that drive destinies, of the voyages that lead us to leave what we were at the very pace of our maturity.

All the Johannssens, from Joshua to their sister Ruby and brother Bernard, as well as their parents and grandfather, have been blown away by unexpected winds that took away their attachment and love. Those same winds that they shared at the beginning of their lives together led to bankruptcy at some point, for some reason ...

Identical poles repel each other. That seems to be the first reason that could have forced a separation between the souls of a family so closely linked by blood and by hobby, but it does not seem enough. Family secrets are often locked in silence, abandoned to the passage of time. But sometimes you end up guessing that they can't always be there, for the good of all.

A regatta in the waters of the Puget Sound can be a good time to try to heal wounds, putting all the cards on the table.
